Training
We are excited that you’re planning to run the inaugural Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon. There are a number of great training programs that will get you ready to run at your desired pace to cross the finish line. These include several wonderful national charity programs, online training programs and regional training programs.
The Running Company and St. Francis partner to provide a training program for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. The experts at The Running Company have been helping runners and walkers train for the marathon and half-marathon for nearly a decade, and offer a program for all fitness and experience levels. You’ll receive a daily training program, meet for group run/walks each week and have regular communication with coaches and professionals.
With the help of St. Francis, you’ll also receive valuable education on a variety of health and fitness topics. You’ll receive practical information about how to successfully train for and complete the marathon or half-marathon. Many participants are beginners, so don’t be intimidated! While we can’t guarantee you’ll be the fastest through the streets of Indy, most people complete our training program successfully, many accomplishing personal best times. KLA believe that there is much more to running and walking a road race than just putting one foot in front of the other. We feel that going out and just doing mileage, whether individually or with a group, is not sufficient to adequately meet your goals.
Although we have group runs and walks at each session, their focus is on coaching and providing relevant instruction. The Marathon & Half-Marathon Training Program provides an overview of all aspects of training in order to peak for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, November 1st (Or your chosen event).
Indy Runners is excited to announce the 3rd annual Fall Marathon and Half-Marathon Group Training Program! This program is FREE to paid club members. Over 100 runners participated in these Saturday training runs over the last 2 years, and we anticipate greater numbers in 2008! Please visit their website for more information.
