Race Day Information
Thank you for entering the Inaugural Indianapolis Monumental Marathon & Half-Marathon presented by St. Francis.
The following is the latest information concerning the Monumental Marathon and Half-Marathon.
NEW – PASTA DINNER ON FRIDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 31st.
Bistro III, located on the second floor of the Chase Tower, 1 East Ohio Street, Indianapolis. Enter the north entrance and take the escalator to the second floor.
Cost: $10 pre-order by October 28, 2008 or $12 at the door.
First seating is at 5pm, Second seating is at 6pm.
Order ticket(s) online.
Limited to 200 per seating. If room is available, tickets will be available at Friday’s packet pick-up or at the door at Bistro’s.
Fazoli’s Restaurant will provide spaghetti and/or lasagna, bread sticks, and drinks.

NOTE: Packet pick-up and registration will close promptly at the stated times.
CHANGING EVENTS:
If you want to change from one event to another – you must declare before the race and get a new number. Call or email before Oct. 24th, or go to the Service Table at Packet Pick-Up to make the change. If going from the half to the full, you will be charged the difference. If changing from the full to the half-marathon, no refunds will be issued.
PARKING:
For $5 you can park at the Indiana Government Center Parking located at West Street and Washington Street, which is one block from start, two blocks from Finish and Registration / Packet Pickup.
If parking on the streets, the meters are free on Saturday.
START LINE:

CLOTHING VAN:

FINISH LINE:

COURSE:
Course certification number for the marathon is IN08015 MW and the half-marathon is IN0816 MW.
The marathon course is basically flat, with a few inclines in the middle. The half-marathon is relatively flat throughout.

SCORING & TIMING
We are using the DAG chip system that includes a chip start and chip finish. The chip is attached to the back of your bib number. THE CHIP IS NOT TO BE REMOVED or FOLDED. Pin it to the front and make sure it is visible at all times.
You do not have to stop and have the chip removed at the finish line. Your chip is disposable, but we will have recycling bins in the rest & recovery area if you want us to recycle your bib and/or chip.
RESULTS:
Results will be posted about every 20 minutes during the event. If you choose you may have your results texted to as many cell phones as you wish. Following the race, results will be emailed to all finishers who have provided a correct email address. Your results will show chip time and gun time – all awards are based on gun time (USATF Rule 245).

RESULTS BY TEXT MESSAGING:
Text IMM + your bib number to 71813 and get a text with your results as soon as they are posted.
(Example for bib number 284: Text IMM284 to 71813)
No premium fees! Only standard text messaging rates apply. Your phone number will ONLY be used to deliver your race results. You may have your results texted to several cell phones.
COURSE TIME LIMIT
THE COURSE TIME LIMIT WILL BE ENFORCED. The marathon is 15 minutes per mile and will begin after the last person crosses the start line.
NOTE: Half-marathoners need to maintain the 15 minutes per mile pace for the first 6½ miles. This is where the half-marathoners will split from the marathoners. Half-marathoners will re-join the marathoners at approximately the 8 mile mark of the half-marathon.
NOTE: A follow-up bus will be picking up those who haven’t met the time limit.
PACERS:
To help with your pacing, we will have pacers for each 15 minutes beginning with a 2 hour, 45 minute finish to a 4 hour, 45 minute finish.
MEDICAL / COURSE COMMUNICATIONS
St. Francis Hospital will have medical personnel on bikes. The American Red Cross will have 5 medical stations, with Wishard Ambulance Service and their personnel around the course. A complete medical station will be located at the finish area. The Marion County Emergency REACT personnel will be located at all water stops.
FINISHER’S MEDALS:
All finishers who complete the course within the time limit will receive a medal. There are half-marathon medals and marathon medals.
REST & RECOVERY:
At the finish you will receive a space blanket, water, All-Sport Energy Drink and your finishers’ medal.
You will then proceed to the refreshment area inside the State Capitol Building to the Rotunda where registration and packet pick-up was located. Fazoli’s Restaurant will provide spaghetti and/or lasagna, bread sticks plus additional refreshments and entertainment will be available.
AWARDS:
The award ceremony will take place in the Rotunda, inside the State Capitol Building. The half-marathon awards will be presented first, followed by the marathon awards.
