- A history-making race between two female runners: Alana Hadley, 16 and Coleen De Reuck, 49 will both attempt to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials. They could potentially be the oldest and youngest competitors to compete in the 2016 marathon trials. (See Runner's World article.)
- The Monumental Kids Movement, a nine-week running program involving 17 Indianapolis Public Schools and the Challenge Foundation Academy. The program culminates with the students taking part in the Monumental 5k race presented by Apex Benefits. Nearly 1000 kids are currently involved in this exercise and fitness program.
The IMM is a 501(c)3, with a mission to educate Indianapolis youth about the benefits of exercise, proper diet and healthy living. The organization has donated more than $400,000 to support public education over the past five years. On October 29, at the Indiana Pacers home opener, the IMM will present a check for $122,000 to benefit the Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation, College Summit and the Simon Youth Foundation.
