WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION?

The deadline for online registration for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k and Kids Fun Run is October 30st at 11:59 p.m. Please note we have sold out the marathon for the last four years so the sooner you get your registration in the better.

MAY I UPGRADE OR DOWNGRADE MY ORIGINALLY REGISTERED EVENT?

Yes. If you would like to upgrade to the Half Marathon or Marathon, or downgrade to the Half Marathon or 5K, you can find the options on to do so on the registration page here. If you downgrade you will not be refunded the difference in events, and if you upgrade you will be required to pay the upgrade difference. You may upgrade/downgrade until Monday, October 15, 2018 at 5:00pm.

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION CUTOFF TO HAVE MY NAME PRINTED ON MY BIB?

You must be registered by 11:59:59 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 to have your name custom printed on your bib number. This is for all participants in the Full, Half and 5K event. If you chose to switch to another distance after the deadline, your name will not be custom printed on your bib.

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION CUTOFF TO HAVE MY NAME PRINTED ON THE COMMEMORATIVE POSTER?

You must be registered by 11:59:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 to have your name printed on the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon Commemorative Poster.

MAY I TRANSFER MY ENTRY TO SOMEONE ELSE?

Yes. There is a $20.00 fee to transfer a registration. You can find the Transfer Out Option here on the registration page. The deadline for submitting transfers is October 10, 2018.

HOW CAN I GET CONFIRMATION OF MY REGISTRATION?

Please visit our Confirm Your Registration page and enter your first and last name. Your name and the event you have registered for will appear under the Search Results section on the next page.

WHAT IF I ENTERED THE WRONG INFORMATION WHEN I REGISTERED OR I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE SOMETHING ON MY REGISTRATION?

Log into your Get Me Registered account here, find the section on the side titled Account Login, and enter your username and password. Once logged in you will be able to see your registration and make changes to it if necessary. Please make sure you use the email that you purchased the registration under.

MAY I GET A REFUND FOR MY ENTRY?

No, there are no refunds.

CAN I DEFER MY ENTRY?

Per the refund policy in the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k and Kids Run registration, all entries are non-refundable. If you cannot participate due to pregnancy, injury or military deployment, we do offer deferrals to the 2018 running events with proof. Please submit either your doctor’s note stating injury/pregnancy or proof of deployment to register@beyondmonumental.org by October 10, 2018. There is a deferral fee of $20.00.

To remain fair and consistent, deferrals do not extend to anyone besides the injured, pregnant or deployed participant.

DO YOU OFFER A MILITARY DISCOUNT?

To honor those who serve to protect our freedom, CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is proud to offer US Military members, veterans and their families, 10% off the participant registration price. To receive the discount, email or mail a copy of your picture Military ID or a copy of your DD214 to the Beyond Monumental office. To email, click here and attach your document or mail to Beyond Monumental, 202 E. Market St., Indianapolis, IN 46204. We will then contact you with the promotional code to use when registering.

WHERE AND WHEN IS PACKET PICK-UP?

Race bibs and packets will be available at the Monumental Health and Fitness Expo on Thursday, November 1nd from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, November 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center, at 100 South Capitol.

No race packets will be mailed and there is no race day packet pickup.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY PACKET?

Yes. In order for someone else to pick up your packet, they must present the e-mail containing your ASSIGNED BIB NUMBER (which will be sent to you on Wednesday, Oct. 31) OR a copy of your driver’s license. The email OR copy of your driver’s license may be presented to the volunteers at packet pickup from their phone or as a printed version.

MAY I PICK UP MY PACKET ON RACE DAY?

No, there will be NO race day packet pick-up.

HOW CAN I SIGN UP FOR THE PASTA DINNER?

The pre-race pasta dinner will be held at Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant, north of Circle Center Mall (35 North Illinois Street, 46204.) The Buca di Beppo Pasta Dinner will take place on Friday, November 2, 2018; a large dining room at the restaurant has been reserved for CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon participants and family members, only.

This year’s dinner will be a set menu, with a variety of options for participants to choose from for dinner.

2018 Buca di Beppo Pasta Dinner Menu:

  • Mixed Green Salad and Caesar Salad (served with House Bread)
  • Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
  • Fettuccine Alfredo
  • Chicken Parmigiana

Tickets for the Buca di Beppo Pasta Dinner are $30.00/person. The Buca di Beppo Pasta Dinner will have two dining seatings:

  • 5:30 PM Seating (limited to 75 individuals)
  • 7 PM Seating (limited to 75 individuals)

Water and soft drinks are included.

You can purchase your pasta dinner tickets in advance by visiting our registration page or onsite at the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo (if seating is available.) Tickets will be available for pick up during the Expo on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2.

IS THERE A GEAR CHECK?

Gear Check will be available race morning starting at 6:30am. In 2016, Gear Check was located off of Washington Street between Missouri Street & West Street, on the north side of the Indiana Government Center Parking Facility. All gear must be picked up by 3:00pm. You will be provided a clear plastic bag when you pick up your packet at the Monumental Health and Fitness Expo. YOU MUST USE THIS BAG AS YOUR GEAR CHECK BAG. Please use the pull-off tag on your bib to label your gear check bag. All bags will be subject to search and any bag other than the clear plastic bag provided to you at the Health and Fitness Expo will be turned away. Unattended bags not within the Gear Check area will be removed by Security. Any gear left at the gear check tent will be donated to a local charity.

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT FOR EACH RACE?

The time limit is 6.5 hours for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. The course will close on a rolling schedule, with the finish line closing at 2:45 p.m. This means that marathon runners must be able to sustain a pace of 15:00 per mile in order to finish ahead of the course closure. Half marathon runners must be able to sustain a pace of 15:00 per mile for the first ten (10) miles in order to finish ahead of course closure. The last three (3) miles of the half marathon can be at substantially slower pace of 30:00 per mile. The 5k course requires an 18:00 per mile pace.

I KNOW I’M SLOW, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

The time limit is 6.5 hours for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. The course will close on a rolling schedule, with the finish line closing at 3:00 p.m. Marathon runners must be able to sustain a pace of 15 min/mile in order to finish ahead of the course closure.  Marathon participants who do not reach the half marathon / marathon course split (Mile 7.2) by 10:15 a.m. will not be able to proceed along the Marathon course.
Half marathon runners must be able to sustain a pace of 15:00 per mile for the first ten (10) miles in order to finish ahead of course closure.  The last three (3) miles of the half marathon must be completed before the finish line closure at 3:00 p.m. The 5k course requires an 18:00 per mile pace.

IF I CAN’T MEET THE 15 MINUTES PER MILE PACE, CAN I CONTINUE RUNNING AFTER THE RACES ARE OVER?

If participants choose to continue running after the course closes, they do so at their own risk and will be asked by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to move off the streets. No times are recorded after 3:00 p.m. for either the marathon or half marathon. Finisher medals will be awarded only to those finishing within the specified time limit.

CAN I LEAVE THE COURSE AND COME BACK?

All participants who leave the course will be disqualified.

WILL THERE BE RUNNER TRACKING AVAILABLE?

Yes, you’ll be able to follow your favorite runner or walker from the convenience of your mobile device.  See our Tracking page for more information.

WILL EACH RACE BE CERTIFIED?

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is certified by USATF. All USATF rules apply.

IS THE COURSE A BOSTON QUALIFIER?

Yes, and due to the flat, fast nature of our course, many people PR!

WHAT ITEMS MAY I PARTICIPATE WITH?

Participants WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the IMM with animals, bicycles, baby joggers, strollers, roller skates, or inline skates and must wear their bibs at all times.

ARE PEOPLE ALLOWED TO WEAR HEADSETS DURING THE RUN?

For safety purposes, we recommend that people do not wear headsets so they can hear important information along the course.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RACE MANAGEMENT?

Don Carr of Tuxedo Brothers who has over 25 years of race management experience. Don is currently race director of the Indianapolis 500 mini marathon.

ARE THERE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES STILL AVAILABLE?

DO FINISHERS RECEIVE A MEDAL?

ALL Finishers in the Full, Half, 5K and Kids Fun Run will receive a finishers medal. Any finishers completing the course outside the 2:45pm time limit, will not receive a finishers medal.

In 2014, many recipients asked about the notch in the corner of the medals. That notch is a part of a four year medal series that the IMM introduced in 2014. Any participant who receives a medal in years ’14, ’15, ’16 and ’17 will also receive the “White Star Medallion” that completes the 5 pieces of the Indianapolis flag. HOW CAN I PERSONALIZE THE BACK OF MY MEDAL WITH MY NAME AND FINISHING TIME?

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon will have on-site engraving from PR Medal Engravers. Commemorate your achievement on race day with personalized engraving. Pre-purchase when you register online for $15.00 or on race day for $20.00. Pre-purchased orders will be provided to PR Medal Engravers so you can proceed straight from the finish line to have your medal engraved. WILL I GET MY THROW-AWAY SHIRT BACK?

No, all clothes thrown along the race course will be picked up and donated to local charity.

HOW DID THE ALANIC SHIRTS FIT COMPARED TO PREVIOUS IMM SHIRTS?

The 2017 shirts remained consistent with the 2013 size chart.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR THE FULL AND HALF MARATHON?

The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon requires a minimum age of 16 years old. The half marathon requires a minimum age of 10 years old.

WILL THE MONUMENTAL HAVE PACE LEADERS?

Our pace team is coordinated by the Director of the Monumental Training Program and Elite Athlete Coordinator, Matt Ebersole. Marathon paces covered will be, at minimum: 3:05, 3:10, 3:15, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:45, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, 6:00, 6:33. Half marathon paces covered will be, at a minimum: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30 and a 15:00 pace sweeper through 10M. Other paces may be available as interest and amount of pacesetters allow. See the Pace Team page for more information.

HOW WILL THE STARTING AREA AND WAVES WORK ON RACE MORNING?

We’ve heard your feedback and made a change for the better – the 2017 CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon will use a wave start! After experiencing a record number of participants in 2016 and anticipating further growth this year, we’re taking an important step forward to improve our event.

What does a wave start mean?

  • The start will be broken into five separate “waves” of participants, based on pace per mile.
  • You’ll experience less congestion in the early miles, at water stops, and throughout the course leading to faster times and a better overall experience
  • The Half Marathon and Marathon will still start together
  • To qualify for the First Wave you must be able to run 1:43 for the Half or 3:26 for the Full or faster. Proof of times must be verifiable You will be asked to submit a link to a result run between 2015 and 2017 when registering so have it ready!
  • The event is chip timed so your official time will remain unaffected

CAN I HAVE A FRIEND OR COACH RUN WITH ME THROUGHOUT ANY PORTION OF THE EVENT?

No. All participants must be registered and wearing their assigned bib number. If you are looking for pacing assistance, we provide our Monumental Pace Team to help you reach your goal.

WILL ENERGY GELS BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE?

Yes, energy gels will be available along the Monumental Marathon course near miles 10.5, 15.5, and 22 and near mile 8.5 of the Monumental Half Marathon course.

HOW MANY RESTROOMS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE COURSE?

All aid stations on all courses will provide water, medical personnel, and restroom facilities. Port-o-lets are available at the start and finish lines as well as every aid station along the course. We ask that you please be kind and courteous to the Indianapolis residents and neighborhoods.

There will be 21 medical stations available to participants throughout the race course. These 21 stations will be located at the aid stations along the full marathon, half marathon, and 5k courses. There will also be one medical station at the start and one medical station at the finish line. For medical emergencies, an ambulance will be called to transport the participant to a local hospital. The participant is responsible for any medical transportation fees.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that participants write any medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts on the backside of their race bib and wear their race bib at all times during the event.

WHAT IS THE KID’S FUN RUN AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Kid’s Fun Run is about 1/3 of a mile, and is flat and fast. They will start at the official start line and run through the official finish line. Kids will be greeted by their favorite mascots when they finish. Participants must be between the ages of 4-10 years old. Registration is required and can be accessed through the online registration link or by submitting the printable entry form. Costs can be seen on the registration page or on our homepage.

COULD BAD WEATHER OR OTHER CONDITIONS CANCEL THE RACE?

Extreme weather (lightning, high winds, snow, ice, extreme temperature, etc.) could cancel the race. There are also instances of other emergency situations (power outages, city-wide alerts, etc) that could affect the start/cancellation/continuance of the races. In case of delay or cancellation, immediate notification will be made through CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon Facebook page (Facebook.com/MonumentalMarathon), Twitter page (@IndyMonumental) and our website (MonumentalMarathon.com).

WHAT HAPPENS IF EXTREME WEATHER HAPPENS DURING THE EVENT?

If extreme weather or an emergency situation becomes an issue, the Command Group will meet and determine the status/future of the event. Depending on the situation the event may be delayed or cancelled. Information will be relayed to the Race committee via cell phones/radios. Participants will be notified along the course by course monitors and race officials. Participants will be required to use their best judgment, based on the situation, as to the next best course of action.

IF THE RACE IS CANCELLED, WILL REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS BE ALLOWED?

No, should the event be cancelled due to extreme weather or other emergency, there will be no refunds or transfers.

Additionally, there will be a $1,000 bonus offered to any U.S. man or woman who attains an Olympic Trials qualifying mark in the marathon (Men = 2:19:00; Women = 2:45:00).

A $500 bonus will be offered to any U.S. man or woman who attains an Olympic Trials qualifying mark in the half marathon (Men = 1:04:00; Women = 1:13:00).

WHERE WILL THE RACE AWARD CEREMONIES BE LOCATED?

There will not be an awards ceremony, awards will be mailed after the results are finalized. All finishers in the Full, Half, 5K and Kids Fun Run will receive a Finisher’s Medal.

IF I AM CHECKING OUT OF MY HOTEL BEFORE THE RACE, ARE POST-RACE SHOWERS AVAILABLE?

Post showers are available at the Irsay Family YMCA, ​430 S Alabama St, Indianapolis, IN 46225

WILL THERE BE RACE DAY PHOTOS AVAILABLE?

MarathonFoto will have an army of photographers on hand to make sure you can chose from several great photos of your heroic effort.

HOW CAN I CHECK MY RESULTS?

There are many different ways to check your results after you finish. Visit the Results Tent to the right of the finish line to receive a print out of your finish time and your splits. The unofficial overall results will be posted next to the South Government building to the right of the finish line. Results will be listed by finish time and include your overall place and age group place. You may also view a live update of your results at www.monumentalmarathon.com. If you have questions about your results, please visit the Results Tent during the race or e-mail register@monumentalmarathon.com.

LATE PACKET PICKUP

In order for someone to pick up your packet, they must present a packet pickup authorization form to the volunteer distributing packets. Click here to download a pdf of the form to fill out.

We will also have forms at the Expo to fill out but they must present one of the following to the volunteer authorizing the forms:

  • A copy of your driver’s license
  • A copy of your event confirmation (either hard copy or digitally on a mobile device)
  • A signed statement from you giving them permission to pick up your bib and shirt
