PACE TEAM FAQ's
In 2013, for the first time in Monumental history, our pace team was coordinated by the Director of the Monumental Training Program and Elite Athlete Coordinator, Matt Ebersole.
How do I join a Pace Team?
Ideally, stop by the Pace Team booth at the race expo and meet your pacer and pick up a special bib number with your goal pace. All you really need to do is look for your designated pacer on race morning holding a sign with your goal time.
How much does running with a Pace Team cost?
The amount of training necessary to run the pace and a great attitude to help fuel your pace team with energy. There is no monetary cost.
How do I find a pace team on race morning?
Your pacer will be holding a sign outside the corral with your goal pace. They will be in order so if you can find one you will be able to move forward or back until you find you magic pace.
If I sign up to run with a Pace Team do I have to stay with them?
We hope not. We hope that the pacing helps you feel so strong at the end you are able to finish faster than goal pace. Use the pace team as a target. You may want to start slower and gradually catch them and then speed up at the end. The entire purpose of the pace team is to help you have your best race.
Can I sign up to be a pacer?
Our team for 2014 is almost complete but things change without notice so we are building our reserve list for last minute needs. Please contact Matt Ebersole at firstname.lastname@example.org.
